It started between two friends — Ochran and Aristarico — in a high-school computer lab with just pen-and-paper wireframes. We built our first prototype app called Palaver: a digital forum for connection and expression. The world wasn't ready. After high school, the app goes dormant.
I meet Dennis on campus, and together we experiment on a lot of startup ideas that fail. One of them is D&C Fashion House. Profits and sales were low, but the community forming around us was eccentric. We decide to rebrand it D&C Foundation - to fit the diverse members and creatives we brought together, from models to artists. The failed startups taught us a lesson no classroom can — collaboration over transaction is how we make it.
The name "D&C Foundation" was a barrier. Coincidentally, we stumble upon the first prototype app — Palaver. It captured everything: the original idea, the community spirit, the African palaver tradition of gathering, speaking, and solving together. D&C Foundation rebrands to Palaver. And Africa becomes the focus. One by one, we start building the systems that will change the future.
Palaver is no longer a prototype or a side project. It's a network of initiatives, communities, and young founders across Africa. Every program is designed by the people, for the people. What works in one community is documented and sparked across the network. We are not waiting for the future we are building it, together.
